Modular and adaptable accommodations

La Rochelle is a university town. Each year, 8000 students attend the city’s universities. The shortage of dedicated housing is the driver behind the development of new concepts to meet this need. Our project consists of shared housing units that can accommodate 4, 6 and 8 people. The sharing of common spaces along with private spaces would provide low-cost optimised housing. These units consist of a main circulation block with a large common living space, and room modules with shared bathroom enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the space. These prefabricated wooden modules are quick to assembly and can be put at the construction site, and are a complex of efficient, low-energy loss façades. By grouping together bedroom modules, units for 4 to 8 people can be grouped together, and even more if the houses themselves are shared.
