Facilities for books are currently undergoing numerous transformations which directly or indirectly affect the way they work : reduction in lending, development of digital information, growing diversification of work patterns, increase in single parenthood, spread of social networks on the Internet…
For the Colombes media centre, we suggest going a little further, by integrating the concept of “ third space ” to our conception.
The term is applied to innovative amenities in terms of their content and services, which seek a close relationship with the public, but also public amenities that are open to public spaces and new quality of reception..
For our project for the Colombes media centre, we chose to translate these needs by working on the modularity of the facility, opening up its spaces and organising “ universes ” providing several atmospheres according to the uses that are going to be encouraged in different places.
